Rockin' out on a boat while sportin' some Pink Floyd and this sexy, cool maxi dress. I absolutely love maxi dresses and their versatility so I literally wear them year round in California! They're the perfect transitional piece for all seasons...at least all seasons in SoCal! Even though it's winter right now, it's been pretty warm and summer-like lately...especially in San Diego. 

I wore this adorable X-back maxi dress from Stillwater, layered it with the comfiest band tank, and topped off the outfit with a badass leather jacket and a head warmer for extra warmth during the windy boat ride around Point Loma. Let me just tell you that there are very few things I love more than good music and fun boat rides! So a huge thanks to my sis and her man for always taking me out on their boat and showing me a great time while I'm visiting!

Out of the woods and into the new year with many new and exciting adventures ahead! Some of my most exciting upcoming events include: 

• Celebrating 5 amazing years of being in a relationship with my best friend/boyfriend in a couple days, which totals over 12 years of friendship!!!

• We'll be continuing our new tradition of spending Valentine's Day camping with close friends in Eddie's new truck

• We'll be finishing the rebuild of our home, painting & decorating it, and then finally moving in together...SOON-ish! lol

• My godson will be entering the world within a couple weeks! And I'm so excited to meet this little nugget! 

It's only the first day of the year and there's already so much happening! I can't wait to see what else is in store for 2015, but I have a pretty good feeling it's going to be another great and fulfilling year with many more life lessons. As long as I continue surrounding myself with positive and loving people, I know I can take on any curve balls life may throw my way. Wishing you all another year full of laughter and love.

In my opinion, belts can almost always upgrade an outfit! This skinny black leather belt really completed my whole look! Before I accessorized and added the belt, this dress looked like a massively oversized and colorful potato sack...which did NOTHING for my figure. But by adding the belt, I instantly appeared thinner and taller.  Because it accentuated my waist and broke up my upper and lower body, my waist appeared smaller and my legs appeared longer. Flow(er)

Although it's almost been a week since my birthday, I am STILL celebrating! It turns out that I'm kind of celebrating this whole month of October with trips to Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, the Grand Canyon, and Portland!

In addition to these trips, I bought myself an old lady gift...an outdoor grill for my relatively new home (so be ready for some BBQ fun, friends)! After assembling that monster, I had Papa Pleng grill up some ribeye steaks for my actual birthday dinner with the family. 

Then the following night was spent with some of my friends out in the NoHo Art District at Pitfite Pizza and Brickyard Pub for a casual night of pizza, beer, and darts. This totally felt like a mini UCSB reunion with everyone back together again like the good ol' college days! 

The night was just a casual night out with friends, so I decided to wear something pretty simple. I belted a flowy vintage maxi dress, threw on a DOMA leather jacket over it, and paired them with some UGG heeled sandals.

Rule Breaker

Since Labor Day was last week, I should probably pack away the whole white section of my closet...right?! Nuh uh!...I don't think so....I love my whites way too much to only reserve it for Spring and Summer!

Some rules are just meant to be broken like this old school "fashion rule" that you can't wear white after Labor Day. Obviously nobody really follows it anymore because white is a year-round color in this day and age. But I'll pretend like I'm a badass and proclaim myself as a rule breaker with this white maxi dress from Elliatt! Plus, it's really all about bending and breaking the rules of fashion now. Like I always say, "Life is too short to wear boring clothes"! So go experiment and have fun with fashion...while defying all those "fashion rules".

I styled this sheer striped maxi dress with some killer Jeffrey Campbell silver gladiator heels, a braided silver belt, and some silver jewelry. Have a happy Monday, y'all!
