I talked about the 3 layer rule in a previous post, which you can check out here for some of my tips. I started with a sheer lace bodysuit and destroyed denim as the base. Then I added a thin plaid top, which I tied around my waist as an extra layer for when I'd eventually need it. Lastly, I threw on my badass leather jacket covered with rivets and grommets to add a bit of a tough touch to a rather girly look. I personally love to mix and match textures and material while juxtaposing feminine pieces and masculine items. I find that this just adds more depth to my whole outfit. Plus, I just really REALLY love this jacket! This major splurge is definitely a statement piece in and of itself!

After being on the road and sleeping in 4 different cities during the past 15 days, I've been dying to crawl into my own bed...and maybe even pass out for 2 days straight to recuperate. Who knew vacation was going to be so exhausting?! lol

Even though I was exhausted from my trip to Portland, I couldn't wait to head down to San Diego with my friends and visit my sister! I was home for a total of 26 hours, which was just long enough to unpack and repack my bags. After 4+ hours of LA traffic, we finally made it and celebrated America's birthday in the most All American way! We drank some booze, ate some burgers & hotdogs, and played on the boat all day! Eddie and I really couldn't have asked for a better 4th of July with better people!!!

This look was inspired by the concert I attended earlier this week with Eddie and a couple friends. We went to go see Young the Giant at The Majestic Ventura Theater and they were nothing short of absolutely amazing! The last time I saw them live was way back when I was a sophomore in college and they were still known as the Jakes so it was great seeing them again. The concert was such a hassle because it was inconveniently on a Tuesday night and over an hour drive away, but it was so worth it! Nothing beats good music and good company!

By the way, I'm actually in Eddie's truck on our way to Johnson Valley for the King of the Hammers race! This'll be my first time coming to this race so I don't know what to expect but I do know I'm probably going to freeze my bum off. It's supposed to be in the mid-20s tonight with a slight chance of rain so wish me luck! I'll definitely post up a photo diary of this camping trip sometime next week when my life starts to slow down a tad bit. There's just so much to see & do and not enough time! But I got to go now...it's time to get back to singing my heart out while Eddie stares at me (probably wondering why he's still dating me lol).

Everybody Wants Some

Every person, guys and gals, should have at least one great band tee (of a band they actually listen to) in their closet! It's a must-have staple piece that goes with absolutely everything.

I like to wear my tees with high waisted shorts and a cardigan, tucked into a mini or a maxi skirt, with skinny and/or distressed jeans, with leather pants or leggings, etc! Honestly, the possibilities are endless. T-shirts go with everything, but a nice vintage band tee just adds an extra OOMPH factor!

Last week, I wore my badass Van Halen band tee with these sweet lace flared pants from Somedays Lovin', a plaid flannel to keep me warm after the show, a trusty black hat, and layers of jewelry to a show in LA with some of my friends. I had a blast, was able to stay comfy, and looked very rock and roll chic. Below are some tips on styling a band tee!

Tips:

1) Don't wear a t-shirt of a band you don't actually listen to. You don't want to look like an idiot when someone comments on your band tee and you don't have a clue on what type of music they play.

2) Depending on the weather, layer on a jacket, cardigan, flannel, vest, or an overshirt. This will allow you to style your basic band tee and make it a bit more personal. Tie it around your waist when you're not using your flannel or jacket. That way you won't have to carry it around or make your boyfriend hold it. Plus I think it looks cute and adds an 90s feel to the outfit!

3) Accessorize. Pile on the bracelets, necklaces, and rings. Maybe add a hat or a beanie if you wish. Since a tee is plain and basic, I like to spice things up with some fun accessories!

4) Don't wear your band t-shirt to that band's concert. One of the reasons I personally don't wear a band's t-shirts to that band's show is because I run the risk of having on the same outfit as someone else, which doesn't sit well with me lol. I just like to be a little different from the crowd wherever I go. My reasoning is not the same reasoning as others people's that just claim that it's a "fashion rule" or a "fashion faux pas". If you don't mind having the same outfit on as someone else, go for it! I think that it's a damn t-shirt and if you like the damn band, you should be able to wear the shirt without people judging. You're also supporting the band by spending $$ on a shirt and you're not allowed to wear it to their show? Plus, why can people wear their sports jerseys to that team's game? Huhhh? Why? I don't get this "fashion faux pas"! So I vote that you where what you want! I ain't judging!

Movin' On Up

I am beyond exhausted. I've been packing up and moving things day by day for the past 3 days to the new 4 bedroom house that I had recently purchased. I am soooo excited because I decided to turn the smallest bedroom into my very own walk-in closet!!! So far I'm loving how it looks and I'll definitely be sharing my setup later on the blog when it's complete and looking tidier.

Before I started workin' my bum off during the move, I took an amazingly relaxing vacation to Sequoia National Park. I spent my days hiking and exploring with my man, which I'll be sure to post more about in the upcoming blog posts. 

By the way I'm sorry for neglecting the blog...I had absolutely no service out in Sequoia and I jumped right into moving when I came back to civilization lol. Once things start to settle down for me, I'll be back to posting more regularly. Also, I'm posting this through my Blogger app on my iPhone because my Internet still isn't set up yet (so things may look a little funky haha).
