Nice Knits

Sweater: Black Swan
Necklace: Jenny Bird
Tights: HUE
Booties: Jeffrey Campbell x Nasty Gal
Hat: LF Stores

Now that it's cooler & Winter is officially here, I can finally wear some of my new knits that I snagged up during my Cyber Monday shopping spree. It was time I updated my winter wardrobe so I stepped up my sweater game and bought some cute turtlenecks, cable knits & sweater dresses. Since I'm kind of a weenie in the cold, it's mandatory I only purchase warm, cozy knits that I can wrap myself in and stay warm all winter long.

Save Your CASHmere

Cashmere Sweater: Reformation (more sweaters here)
Denim Shorts: Oneteaspoon
Booties: Jeffrey Campbell x Nasty Gal
There's a reason why the word 'cash' is in cashmere...it typically costs a lot of money. So when you splurge on a cashmere item, the last thing you want to see are moth holes in it. In the past when I would bust out the cashmere for sweater weather during the fall, I would find holes everywhere! So I did some research and decided to save my cashmere and save some cash on the holes I'd have to mend due to those pesky little moths. Below are some tips and tricks on how to care for your cashmere (and wool) goodies.

Cleaning & Storing your sweaters properly when winter is over is key to keeping your threads looking nice and new.

Clean: Make sure you clean your sweaters before you pack them away for spring and summer because any bit of sweat will attract moths and other bugs. Plus, the smell of the detergent or dry cleaning chemicals will help keep the little pests away. Some people prefer to dry clean their cashmere but I like to hand wash mine because I find that the cashmere gets softer after every wash (and it's a lot cheaper than dry cleaning dozens and dozens of sweaters lol). If you're like me and want to hand wash, remember to wash with mild detergentnever wring out excess water, and lay flat to dry.

Wash: Use lukewarm water to dissolve your mild detergent, turn your sweater inside out, and just squeeze the soapy water through the sweater. Rinse with more lukewarm water.

Dry: Instead of wringing out the water, I put my sweater in between 2 towels and roll the towels up gently from one end to the other. Repeat this until you get as much excess water out as possible and then lay out to dry. Remember to NEVER HANG wet cashmere because it'll stretch out. Just let it air dry naturally.

Store: Store the washed and dried cashmere in a clean and dry space. In order to keep the moths away, there are plenty of products you can find at stores like cedar balls. But my favorite thing to do is tuck some sachets of lavender in the drawers where I store my cashmere and wool. This not only repels moths, but it also leaves a pleasant smell on your clothes instead of that nasty chemical stink from moth balls.

Let me know if you have any other tips to share!

Fake It Til You Make It

Faux Leather Shorts: MinkPink
Sweater: Swell
Heels: Jeffrey Campbell "Solitaire"
Necklace: Chan Luu
Bracelet: Luv AJ

When it comes to leather/faux leather shorts, I personally like to stick with a classic black style because I know that I'll get the most wear out of them. Leather shorts can be surprisingly versatile, sleek, and edgy.

Styling Tips:

For a more tailored look: I suggest tucking a nice silk or chiffon button down blouse into your shorts and pairing it with some classic pumps. And maybe top off the outfit with a nice tailored blazer for a more polished look. Try a printed blazer for more sass and edge.

For a sportier look: I suggest tucking your favorite simple plain t-shirt into your shorts, and layering a cute bomber or Letterman jacket over. I would probably pair this outfit with some sleek girlie heels to contrast the sportiness of the look, but I think Converse sneakers would be a great alternative if heels just aren't your thing.

I kind of did a casual look with some feminine touches for my outfit. I kept it simple with a knit sweater slightly tucked into my shorts, but added some pointed toe pumps and a clutch. If the weather were any cooler, I would have opted for tights under my shorts and a nice thick, chunky knit sweater. How would you girls style your leather shorts?! Feel free to email me and show me! Have a great weekend, y'all!

Winter Blues

I've never really been into the Canadian tuxedo thing but then I put together this look and I kinda like the denim on denim overload. I kept my outfit simple by pairing a lighter blue chambray top with some skinny blue jeans and layered a white & blue knitted sweater over to pull the whole look together. I accessorized with a simple Vanessa Mooney silver necklace tucked underneath my collar to add a little pop of shine.

I wore this outfit to the grand opening of Healthy Spot in Costa Mesa! My family friend and his business partner had just opened up their 4th location of Healthy Spot! If you've never heard of it, it's pretty much a dog's happy place. In short, it has everything for your dog including: healthy organic food & treats, award winning grooming, doggie daycare, pet supplies, chew toys, and so much more! You should definitely check out one of their four locations if you haven't already. They're other locations include Santa Monica, West Hollywood, and Marina del Rey.

I attended the fun filled event with my family and Mr. Milo (he got a fancy new haircut, massage, pedicure, etc at their grooming center and loved it there). Hundreds of people also brought their pups to the event to sample the healthy organic dog treats, to take pictures with their puppy in the photo booth, and to obviously check out the beautiful new store. Some people even adopted the adorable pups that the I.C.A.R.E. foundation brought to the opening. All in all it was a great and exciting day and my pups can't wait to taste all the new goodies I got them! Check out some of the pictures that I snapped of the event at the bottom of the post!

White Christmas

It's less than a week until Christmas and I can barely contain myself! I love love love this time of year especially because of all the fun gatherings that take place...like this ugly Christmas sweater party at my friend's house in Ventura.

Eddie and I were totally lame and didn't have anything super festive or 'ugly' enough to wear so we settled with whatever we could find in our closets. We weren't sure we would even be able to make it because we both worked this past weekend so we didn't have time to prep anything. I just threw on one of my mom's old embellished sweaters from the 80s (that I've had hidden in my closet for years) over a white bodycon dress, nude tights, and a pair of Jeffrey Campbell heels. I accessorized with a vintage cream & gold headband, Vanessa Mooney earrings & bracelets, and Jenny Bird rings.

All in all, it was simply an amazing night filled with many many laughs with great friends, heavenly cookies & cupcakes, warm snuggles with puppies, and competitive flip cup (like the good ol' Santa Barbara days).
